Erin & Mike . Vancouver Convention Centre Wedding

Erin & Mike got married last year at the Vancouver Convention Centre.. travelling all the way from South Carolina and bringing along their family and closest friends to share in the beauty of Vancouver. They really couldn’t have picked a more beautiful location to say their vows - with the North Shore Mountains in the background it really doesn’t get more gorgeous than that!
Also, I say this with every wedding.. and it’s true.. I really do attract and work with the best couples. These two were no exception. And such a wonderful team that helped make this one happen, including Olivia from Dreamgroup. And Young, Hip & Married who officiated. And of course my 2nd shooter - Liesel Sanday (who is so fantastic to have along and is based out of Edmonton)

And before I share their photos, Erin wrote the sweetest review for me and since I don’t officially have a review site, I thought I would share it here:

We were immediately drawn to Justine's style when we were researching wedding. We wanted someone who could beautifully capture the day as it happened instead of taking pictures of fake poses and unauthentic "sentimental" moments. What we ended up with was truly mesmerizing.

It's rare for me to see an artist whose work stuns me and Justine's finished product was nothing short of amazing. What we were most impressed by was her ability to take a seemingly normal picture yet capture nuances and emotions in a way that would leave us staring at a photo trying to find other details we missed on the first pass. She captures moments, emotions, colors, lighting, and reflections in a single take without you ever noticing she's there.

With all the chaos of the day, Justine managed to detail parents reliving their own romances, siblings sneaking whiskey shots with the bride, groomsmen exchanging last-minute mischievous smirks with their groom, guests' pure joy and entertainment, and two people falling in love throughout it all.

As a bride and groom, there's so much you miss on your own wedding day and we got to see it all through the very talented lens of Justine Boulin and her camera. We cannot recommend Justine and her team highly enough. She is one of the most impressive talents we've ever worked with and we highly recommend her to anyone searching for a perfect wedding photographer.”

Thank you so much for choosing to get married here in Vancouver and for having me document your day! It was an honor from start to finish. So many of my favorites -

Angel & Jamil . Vancouver Backyard Wedding

Angel & Jamil got married last summer in his parent’s back yard here in Vancouver. They planned the whole thing in a matter of weeks - she rented a dress, his parents said they would host, set up chairs, made hors d’oeuvres to pass around and had their closest friends all come for their afternoon celebration. At the very last minute they decided to hire a photographer and I’m so so happy they did because this type of wedding is one of my favorites to document. Relaxed, stress free, a bride & groom who are focused on the important stuff and not all the extra. These two are the perfect example of how to throw a wedding without planning for over a year, stressing about all the little details and spending a gazillion dollars on it all... and hiring the right photographer to capture it all of course ;).

Haley & Wade . Vancouver Backyard Wedding

Haley & Wade got married on Wade's family property in the middle of the August heat wave last summer. It was one of my favorites from this past summer, complete with a pig roast, live band, and the most adorable flower girls. So many fun filled moments.. making it hard to narrow it down. I hope you enjoy the story of their day as much as I enjoyed photographing it!

weddings

Jen & Warren . Brock House Vancouver Wedding.

Jen & Warren flew all the way from Winnipeg (as did most of their guests!) to celebrate their wedding here in Vancouver. They love the west coast and the ocean, so having the reception at the Brock House at Jericho Beach was the perfect fit. Such a fun day and it was an honor to document it. Many of my favorites telling their story -

Nicole & Sean . UBC Botanical Garden Wedding Preview.

Nicole & Sean got married last weekend at the UBC Botanical Garden's here in Vancouver. It was my first time shooting there and it was beautiful - so many amazing vendors making this one happen (Olivia from Dreamworks, Florista, and All Dolled Up to just name a few!) These two sure know how to throw a party! Many more to come, but for now a preview of images from their day.

Congratulations once again you two! xo

weddings

Rachelle & Tyson . Vancouver Wedding Photographer

After every wedding I photograph I declare that one my new favorite and I truly believe it... I think I've lucked out to work with the most amazing, in love, laid back couples that throw these ridiculously awesome weddings focused on all the right stuff (you know, the relationships and celebration of togetherness and love and all that stuff.. Not the Pinterest perfect stuff and the stress of all the, often expensive, extras that are for show..). Rachelle and Tyson's wedding was no exception. I could literally feel their love for each other and their family and friends love for them all day. It was a pretty fantastic day from start to finish. Many of my favorites from their day -

congratulations again you two! xo

Planner - Heather and Gem Party Shop
Florist - Mint & Moss

Richard & Karmen . Vancouver Wedding Photographer

This may have been the most special wedding I have ever documented. It was also one of the most difficult ones. Difficult emotionally - trying to capture the moments and relationships just so for these two. Difficult because life is so damn beautiful in so many ways and it's easy to forget about that beauty. To forget about how much we all have to be grateful for... until something happens that reminds you just how special it is and how important love is above anything else.

Richard had been diagnosed with cancer just over a year ago. He did all the 'right' things, did all the treatments and was declared cancer free. They went on with life and started planning their wedding, which I was to photograph in May of next year. When I had met them and they booked me last spring, I instantly knew that their wedding was going to be special. Richard & Karmen are one of the nicest, most genuine couples I've met. There was something about them - their love for each other, that Karmen had a son, Kai, and they were going to become a family, the way they were with each other. I can't explain it, other than that they just had this real and authentic kind of love for each other - and you could tell that from the first time I met them. I remember telling my own husband when I got home from meeting them, that I was so excited to photograph this one next summer - it was going to be a good one full of all the right stuff that makes relationships and togetherness so awesome and right.

Several weeks ago I had received a message from Karmen, saying that they had just found out that Richard had been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. After a year of thinking he was cancer free, it was back. So much so that there was nothing the doctors could do anymore. They were going to put together a little backyard ceremony that weekend and they wanted to know if I would be available to photograph it. Life. So damn beautiful and at the same time so damn unfair.

Richard and Karmen,  I can truly say, it was the most beautiful day and the most beautiful of weddings. Although it was planned in days, and not months, a beautiful wedding is not all the extras and show, heck it's not even about marriage.. it is about the two people coming together and the celebration of love and thus life. You are truly one of the most beautiful couples I've met to date. You are two very special and incredible humans and I'm so honored I got to document your love and your story on the day you were married and became a family.

In closing, Richards best friend stood up during the dinner and read a poem he had written and it was beautiful and perfect and I thought it also needed to be shared. I'll leave you with that first before their images.

Today

Today is a day when love prevails when two hearts join as one
While many hearts are standing by to witness loves new run.
There is but a few who find the one to with stand through thick and thin
Today two people that I love rejoice in life’s greatest win.

There was a time when Rich and I contemplated life alone
Two friends in laughter figuring if we could make it on our own!
Secretly I hoped that my best friend would never find
A girl to take the time away from moments we’d confide

But a today happened, like today, I saw it in his eyes
That day I knew he found the love he wanted by his side.
Not only did he find one heart.. but she came with a two
A little dude named Kai to keep his childhood spirit true.

Through thick and thin of past today’s I’ve seen the calm within
A busy mind had found true love with a woman named Karmen.
Though I do not know them well I know this much is true
Her eyes are filled with love for you like only true love’s do.

today this room is filled with eyes that love my dearest friend
I know I speak for all when I say this love will never end.
Today.. the only thing that matters, and the only one that’s here
Though yesterdays hold memories and tomorrow’s not so clear…

Today.. a day when love prevails when two hearts are joined as one
I love you both.. but as one heart..
Now let’s have some fun!
