vancouver backyard wedding

Angel & Jamil . Vancouver Backyard Wedding

Angel & Jamil got married last summer in his parent’s back yard here in Vancouver. They planned the whole thing in a matter of weeks - she rented a dress, his parents said they would host, set up chairs, made hors d’oeuvres to pass around and had their closest friends all come for their afternoon celebration. At the very last minute they decided to hire a photographer and I’m so so happy they did because this type of wedding is one of my favorites to document. Relaxed, stress free, a bride & groom who are focused on the important stuff and not all the extra. These two are the perfect example of how to throw a wedding without planning for over a year, stressing about all the little details and spending a gazillion dollars on it all... and hiring the right photographer to capture it all of course ;).

Haley & Wade . Vancouver Backyard Wedding

Haley & Wade got married on Wade's family property in the middle of the August heat wave last summer. It was one of my favorites from this past summer, complete with a pig roast, live band, and the most adorable flower girls. So many fun filled moments.. making it hard to narrow it down. I hope you enjoy the story of their day as much as I enjoyed photographing it!

Ashley & James. Vancouver Island Backyard Wedding

Ashley & James got married this past summer in their backyard surrounded by all of their closest friends and family. Getting ready together (which I loved!) - and having their official paper signing ceremony in the hotel room beforehand, barbershop set up for the groomsmen (a surprise from Ashley to James), live bands, amazing food, the cutest flower girls (seriously!), gorgeous decor and set up by Trend Decor and planning by Emma McCormick - it was such a fantastic day.
Congratulations once again you two - it was such an honor to document your day for you. xo
Many MANY of my favorites.

Kim & Kevin. Mayfair Lakes Golf Course. Vancouver Wedding Photographer

Kim & Kevin got married earlier this fall at the Fraserview Church in Richmond, followed up by their reception at Mayfair Lakes Golf Course in Richmond. It was a fantastic day and I was so honored to document it. Many many of my favorites below. Congratulations again you two! xo

Jericho & David. Vancouver Sunset Wedding Portraits.

My Sister, Jericho, got married a year ago in the Czech Republic to David. The wedding was in his hometown and we were unable to attend. Although I was bribed with plane tickets to come and photograph their wedding, it just wasn't in the cards while my youngest was still quite young at that time. It was admittedly a hard decision to make, but in the end, I had decided that my baby would NOT have been impressed with my absence for that week.
BUT, I told them that when they came back to Vancouver the following summer for our family reception, we would go out and take photos. And that's just what we did.
Many of my favorites of the two of them -

Jen & Joe . A Vancouver Backyard Wedding

I've been wanting to photograph a backyard wedding for some time now and this past summer I had the chance to with Jen & Joe's wedding here in Vancouver. After photographing their day,  I'm pretty much convinced that everyone should have backyard weddings. The two of them with 10 of their closest family and friends and focused on all the things a wedding should be - love and connection and family and lots and lots of happy tears.

I was so honored to document this day. It was so special and so much fun. Many of my favorites -
